The Age of Exploration

             The Age of Exploration was a time where a lot of growth took place in Europe. The growth that happened was both physical, in the sense that the countries gained terretory, and mental, in the sense that there was a lot being learned and growth of the mind. Many countries sent explorers all around the world find sea routes  to east Asia and bring back products, knowledge, and land. Ships came from all over the world, like Portugal, Spain, and England.

The Fall of the Roman Empire

There are many factors that contributed to the decline of Rome. Many things happened at the same time that together, were too strong for the civilization to survive. In addition to the forces from other nations and factors that were out of Rome’s hands, it’s own citizens and problems inside the nation were causing it to collapse on itself.

The biggest threat that Rome did not bring upon itself was that it was being invaded. At approximately the same time, Rome was targeted by many different groups such as the Vandals, Ostrogoths and Visigoths. These Barbarian invasions wore down Rome’s military forces and put a constant burden of defending against invasion on the city.

Prior to the invasions, Rome’s success was already waning. This was due largely to the fact that the society was becoming increasingly more corrupt. Many Romans were becoming greedy and fame-crazed. They were only interested in what would make them richer, more famous or personally advance them in some way. There was  little focus on Rome as a civilization and its needs. With so many people trying to help themselves, they were destroying their city.

As if Rome was not already suffering enough, there was another problem that arose from inside its walls. With the military coming back from various places around the world, many things were brought to Rome. Some were good and some were bad. Along with the many imports that benefitted Rome, new diseases were also introduced into the community. Because these germs were entirely foreign to the people of Rome, they had no immunity and were extremely vulnerable. These new diseases attacked Rome’s population and pushed them even deeper into decline.

Rome’s decline was caused by many factors. Even though Rome is so notorious for it’s fall, we still look back on it and are able to learn so much from it today.

Qur'an

Muhammad's followers recorded his teachings in the Qur'an. It is the book that has the beliefs of the Islam religion recorded so people can learn it.

Muhammad's life and teachings

From a very early age, Muhammad learned Arab values such as treating people with compassion and respect, and  honesty. He kept these ideas close to him in his early life when he suffered many loses. His father died before he was born and his mother, when he was still young. He lived with a family of nomads, his grandfather and his uncle. When he was passed over to his uncle, an esteemed merchant, he got to see one of the trade routes that his homeland was so famous for, for the first time.

Before the birth of Muhammad the Arabs weren't united. Islam helped bring them together. Abraham, who was Jewish, had built a place to worship. There was no central government and Arabs formed tribes that fought against each other.

Arabian Desert

Desert: Desert covers three quarters of the Arabian Peninsula. These deserts are made up of plains, plateaus, and mostly sand. Deserts are stereotypically torrid. However, they can hit extreme temperatures both hot and cold. Deserts get less than four inches of precipitation all year long. Droughts can last for years! When rain hits is isn't always good though. On the rare occasion that it does rain, it comes in a violent storm. Because the land is not used to or equipped to the water is often causes flash flooding. Windstorms are storms that happen much more often. They blow the loose sand and dirt around.

Adaptations: People's clothes have much to do with comfort and even survival. They have to wear clothes that will keep them cool and cove their heads and faces in case of a sandstorm.
